The 2017 Annual Meeting of the Basalt Fiber Branch of China, Chemical Fiber Association, was held in Xiaoshan, Hangzhou, on September 26. Wang Yuping, Vice President of the China Chemical Fiber Industry Association, presided over the meeting. He Yanli, Vice President of the China Chemical Fiber Industry Association, and representatives from nearly 30 enterprises in the industry attended the meeting.

Firstly, Wu Zhishen, the first president of the Basalt Fiber Branch, delivered a work report titled "Struggling in Chaos, Gradually Welcoming Dawn," summarizing the achievements of China's basalt fiber industry in the three years since the establishment of the branch. He introduced the support policies and measures from the national government towards the development of the basalt fiber industry, analyzed the current problems in the industry, and proposed suggestions for the branch's future work. He pointed out that China's basalt fiber industry currently ranks first globally regarding the number of enterprises, production capacity, and total sales volume. Although still in the early stages of development, the industry has a promising outlook.
Following this, the organizational structure of the branch was re-elected according to the branch's work regulations and implementation rules. Through a unanimous show of hands by all attending representatives, Cao Boqing, General Manager of Sichuan Aerospace Tuoxin Basalt Industry Co., Ltd., was elected as the president of the second session of the branch. Wu Zhishen, Director of the National and Local Joint Engineering Research Center for Basalt Fiber Production and Application Technology, was appointed honorary president and director of the expert technical committee. Wang Yuping, Vice President of China Chemical Fiber Industry Association, Hu Xianqi, Vice Chairman of Zhejiang Shijin Basalt Fiber Co., Ltd., Jiang Houwen, Chairman and General Manager of Shanxi Jintou Basalt Development Co., Ltd., and Professor Wang Xin from Southeast University were appointed as vice presidents of the branch. Lv Jiabin, Deputy Secretary-General of China Chemical Fiber Industry Association, was appointed the branch's Secretary-General.

After confirming the organizational structure of the branch's second term, the first meeting of the second council session was held. The branch's work regulations and implementation rules were revised and improved, a joint action declaration was signed, and the "13th Five-Year Development Plan for Continuous Basalt Fiber Industry" was discussed and determined. These efforts aim to effectively promote the orderly, rapid, and healthy development of China's basalt fiber industry, making significant contributions to upgrading products in related sectors of the national economy and national defense construction.
